Welcome!

I’m so glad you are here . . . especially if you are the owner or manager of a small business.  You and I have a lot to talk about.

This is your website, I just wrote it down.

I’ve run small businesses for over forty years.  I know first-hand that running a small business is not easy.

If you’re like me, you probably put in—consistently—eleven and twelve-hour days at the office, in the trenches with the Mongol hordes coming over the top.

Someone who’s never operated their own small business can’t appreciate the day-to-day pressures and problems faced by small business owners. The CEO of a major corporation has his share of big problems, but he probably never had to worry about how to make payroll on Friday.

This same CEO gets to spend time being a visionary and doesn’t have to worry about who is going to open the store if he goes on a business trip. When you or I are out of town and our wife has to take the kids to school, who opens up? A major corporation has dozens of people who could be reassigned to “open the store” if needed – you and I don’t have that kind of depth in our organizations. You and I have to be the visionary and the person who opens the store.

Several years ago, I decided to write a business book for the rest of us—those of us who don’t have a staff of thirty to run our office and who clean the warehouse floors ourselves after hours. If you don’t have time to read a business book, this one is for you.

Hunting Alligators is a how-to manual for small business owners.  The book is based on entertaining stories that give real world advice about problems you face daily in business – including hunting the “alligators” causing you problems in your business.  Hence the name of the book, “Hunting Alligators.”  Please click on the “Books” link for more details about Hunting Alligators.

The “Conference Planning” link has information on ways to use Hunting Alligators to spark discussion and drive the theme of your next business conference.  The short, freestanding chapters of the book and varied chapter topics make it the perfect handout and conversation centerpiece for your next conference or business seminar.

There’s a lot of helpful information for small business owners on this site, so please browse the other links.

In addition to a link with more details about my soon-to-be-released book, you will find information on making Hunting Alligators the theme of your next business conference; links to a sample article and a book review.  Other links open to ways I can help you as a consultant and a tab with my background and experience.  I suggest you start by selecting the link called “Books,” then check out the “Blog” tab.  Or, you can click on the icons below to link to the pages.

Please explore the site for ways we can start a conversation and I can be of help to you.

I would love to hear from you.  Email me directly from the “Contact” link or use the form under “Contact” to begin the conversation.
